KUCHING: Two major technology events, the 27th Edition of World Congress on Innovation and Technology (WCIT2023) and the 6th Edition of International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS 2023), are merged as a mega event to be held from Oct 4 to 6 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the mega event organised by Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) was expected to attract 10,000 people from more than 80 countries physically and virtually.
“Sarawak is actively developing its digital economy and offers opportunities for investment in ecommerce, digital infrastructure and digital start-ups.
“All these initiatives have expanded Sarawak as the gateway into Southeast Asia (SEA) especially now that all international borders have opened and businesses are rapidly expanding.”
Abu Bakar said this during the press conference after chairing an Inaugural Organising Committee Meeting of the said events here at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Tuesday (April 4).
Touching on the event, he said that the event’s collective exhibits and showcases would feature some of the most interesting and world-class innovations, ranging from Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Smart Cities, Robotics, Autonomous to Fintech, Foodtech, and Spacetech, all with the goal of driving economic prosperity, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
“We are honoured to have some of the industry’s most prominent names to support this event.
“As such, we look forward to showcasing the most innovative technology solutions aiming at driving economic prosperity, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability that are expected to attract attendees globally,” he said.
