Melissa McCarthy to Receive the Distinguished Artisan Award at the 2019 Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylist Guild Awards.

Melissa McCarthy is known for her ability to transform into myriad characters, and now the actress is being honoured for her talent by the 2019 Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards.

The Emmy Award-winning “Bridesmaids” star has been named the winner of this year’s ‘Distinguished Artisan Award’ for her collaborative approach to working with makeup artists and hairstylists for her various roles in the movies, television, commercials and live theater.

“Melissa collaborates with our creative artisans in every character she develops, whether it’s the SNL parody of Sean Spicer or the true-to-life author Lee Israel,” said Sue Cabral-Ebert, Emmy-nominated makeup artist and President of the Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild IATSE Local 706. “This is also a historic moment as Melissa is the first woman to ever receive this honour from our guild.”

The Guild’s Distinguished Artisan Award honors entertainers whose body of work has been “richly enhanced by the consistent collaboration of makeup and hairstyling artistry” to create memorable characters. Previous winners of the award include Gary Oldman, Johnny Depp and Guillermo del Toro.
