KUCHING: Metadise, a Sarawak-based digital innovation company, marked a major milestone with the grand launching of its headquarters at The Podium on Saturday.

The launch was officiated by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Anielia Siam, who represented Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

Guests were welcomed with a lion dance performance and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a guided tour of the Metadise Academy and an exclusive preview of the company’s Metadise Smart Reality (MSR) platform.

Metadise’s Chief Executive Officer, James Gan, said the event marked not just a company milestone but also Sarawak’s progress toward a digital future.

Gan delivers his opening speech.

The company, founded in December 2022, earns Malaysia Digital (MD) Status from the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and certification from the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), which supports workforce training, all within a year.

“But beyond the titles, what truly drives us is a mission to empower individuals, industries, and institutions through future-ready, accessible, and impactful digital education,” he said.

Gan highlighted that Metadise focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, blockchain and digital literacy – skill sets he described as essential for Sarawak’s competitiveness.

He also shared  that Metadise had just received a digital grant from MDEC on Friday, which will help the company grow its programmes, improve its services, and reach more communities across Sarawak.

Gan explained that Metadise aligns with the ministry’s goals in education, innovation, and talent development by offering immersive programmes that foster critical thinking and problem-solving, while creating platforms for Sarawakians to test ideas and lead digital initiatives.

“We don’t just prepare people for employment.

“We prepare them for entrepreneurship, leadership and lifelong innovation,” he said.

Another key highlight of the event was the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and intention exchange ceremonies between Metadise and its strategic partners, namely Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Branch, FAME International College, Xturn Ventures of Taiwan, and Kenal Limited Holdings from Hong Kong.

These collaborations are expected to enhance Metadise’s efforts in driving digital arts, education innovation and human capital development through metaverse integration.

The event continued with a special AI Talk by HRD Corp Accredited Trainer, Jacob Wong, who engaged participants with insights on AI and digital transformation, before concluding with a lively lucky draw, DJ performance and networking session.
