KUCHING: MetroCity is set to launch its latest phase of commercial development as Sarawak’s expanding economy continues to attract strong investor interest, supported by the state government’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030.
The announcement was made by CKH Realty Group chief executive officer, Datuk David Chong, during the MetroCity Prime Purchasers and Staff Appreciation dinner at Sheraton on Saturday night.
Chong said MetroCity’s expansion reflects the growing demand for integrated business and lifestyle hubs in Kuching, adding that the development aims to support Sarawak’s aspiration to achieve developed-state status by 2030.
“MetroCity’s continued growth demonstrates the confidence investors and consumers alike have in Sarawak’s future.
“Our goal is to build a sustainable and thriving commercial ecosystem that aligns with the state government’s vision,” he said.
Spanning 183 acres, MetroCity is set to increase its total shops to 385 with the addition of a 15-acre Retail and Business Park.
The park is designed as a lifestyle and retail destination offering enhanced convenience for residents and visitors, while hosting major brands opening their first stand-alone outlets in East Malaysia, including Harvey Norman, Mr DIY, and Skechers, further strengthening Kuching’s position as a growing retail hub.
Also present at the dinner was Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s daughter, Dayang Norjihan, together with her husband, Rimbun Group managing director Bouteflika Ahmad, who emerged as the first prize winner of the purchasers’ lucky draw.
The draw offered cash prizes of RM10,000 for the top winner, RM5,000 for second place, RM3,000 for third, and RM1,000 for fourth.
During the event, CKH Realty also recognised the dedication of its staff with the Long Service Awards together with a cheque of up to RM50,000, celebrating employees’ commitment and contributions to the company’s growth.
