KUCHING: The realignment of military operations in Sarawak will be carried out to enhance border and maritime security, says Commander of the First Infantry Division (1 Div) Major General Datuk Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz.

He said the restructuring would involve operations along the borders and waters of the region.

“This is especially in terms of redistributing the operational areas along the border between Sarawak and Indonesia, as well as security in the South China Sea,” he said after paying a courtesy call to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (Mar 10).

He also expressed gratitude to the Sarawak government for providing new equipment worth RM11 million.

“The Sarawak government has provided equipment such as drones and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems for us to use along the border between Sarawak and Kalimantan, Indonesia,” he said.
