KUCHING: The Batu Kawa Min Lit Secondary School has entered the final phase of enrolment for the 2026 academic year, with applications now open for Senior Middle One (equivalent to Form 4) and limited places remaining for Junior Middle One (Form 1).

The school announced that only 15 seats are still available for the Form 1 intake, and parents are encouraged to register early to secure a place.

Entrance examinations have been waived for Junior One applicants, who are also eligible for a variety of scholarships and financial aid packages, including opportunities for up to six years of full school fee exemption.

In a statement, principal Lai Soh Ching said that Min Lit offers a comprehensive range of scholarships to support students from diverse backgrounds and to encourage both academic and personal excellence.

These include Academic Excellence Scholarships for high achievers, Sports Scholarships for state or national athletes, Scholarships for Non-Chinese Students, and Financial Aid for students from low-income families.

Other incentives include fee discounts for children of teachers from Min Lit and ten selected primary schools in the Batu Kawa area, as well as a full fee waiver for families enrolling their third child at Min Lit.

Upon completing Senior Middle Three (Form 6), students receive both the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) and the school’s graduation certificate, enabling direct entry into bachelor’s degree programmes.

Students also have the option to sit for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination in Senior Middle Two, giving them dual academic qualifications.

However, starting in 2026, they will also benefit from the Sarawak government’s Free Tertiary Education Initiative, covering study programmes at institutions such as Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS), University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), and Curtin University Malaysia.

Currently, Min Lit offers Arts and Commerce streams at the senior level.

Despite its size, its graduates have successfully pursued disciplines such as computer and information engineering, multimedia design, animation and game development, culinary arts and baking, semiconductor technology, aquaculture, new media, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

For enrolment enquiries for Junior Middle One (Form 1) or Senior Middle One (Form 4), public may contact the school office at 082-682788 during office hours (Monday to Friday, 7 am to 4 pm, excluding public holidays).
