SERIAN: The Ministry of Defence’s (MINDEF) Strategic Plan programme has strengthened civil–military cooperation (CIMIC) in safeguarding national sovereignty.

First Infantry Division chief of staff Colonel Rosezaimee Abdullah said the initiative was designed to encourage active participation from local communities alongside the Malaysian Armed Forces.

Rosezaimee speaks at the event.

He noted that programmes under the Strategic Plan aimed to deepen public awareness of the importance of unity, involvement, and shared responsibility in national defence.

“I believe activities such as the CIMIC carnival, which features health and dental services, exhibitions and military displays, will bring positive impact to security,” he said.

He said this when officiating the event on behalf of 1st Division Commander Major General Datuk Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz at Kampung Mantung Mara-u, here today (Sept 20).

Rosezaimee added that cooperation between the military, state government and local community was vital, particularly in ensuring people understood their role in defending the country.

He expressed appreciation for the support of the Serian District Office and local community, describing their involvement as a reflection of patriotic spirit.

“The warmth and encouragement shown throughout the planning and implementation of this programme prove that patriotism and civil–military cooperation are well rooted here,” he said.

It also featured a variety of exhibition booths, including a firearms display, a military police booth, and a Territorial Army booth.

The Armed Forces band added colour to the event with musical performances, drawing the crowd closer to the military atmosphere.

A highlight of the day was a live unarmed combat demonstration by trainees of the Basic Unarmed Combat Course Series 1/2025, showcasing strength, agility and tactical skill.
