LUNDU: The Malaysian Armed Forces’ (ATM) Eastern Field Army Command, in collaboration with Sarawak government agencies, organised the MINDEF Strategic Plan Programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Biawak to mark its 10th anniversary of operation.
The event was officiated by the Commander of the Eastern Field Army Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi. It aimed to enhance ATM’s engagement with local communities, focusing on religious education, community services, and fostering positive perceptions of the military.
“This initiative not only strengthens ties between the Armed Forces and civilians but also serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, defence innovation, and community involvement in national security,” said Mohd Sofi in a press release today.
Attracting 1,000 participants, attendees were treated to various activities showcasing ATM’s capabilities, including hand-to-hand combat demonstrations, a military band performance, and a weapons exhibition.
Free health and dental check-ups, recruitment promotions for the Territorial Army, aerobics, and recreational games further enriched the event.
The event was made possible with support from various agencies, including Sarawak’s Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development; Ministry of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development; Sarawak Welfare Department; Majlis Islam Sarawak, and corporate sponsor Sarahill Sdn. Bhd.
