BINTULU: Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri conducted an official visit on Sunday to the project site of the Anjung Kasih Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) at Bintulu Hospital to assess the progress of the welfare initiative.

The visit aimed to evaluate the development of the project, which will provide temporary accommodation for family members of patients undergoing treatment at the hospital, particularly those from rural and low-income backgrounds.

Also present during the visit were the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB), Ruslan Abdul Ghani; YKN Chief Executive Officer, Nordina Haron; and Bintulu Hospital Director, Dr Suzalinna Sulaiman.

The Anjung Kasih YKN Hospital Bintulu project is the result of a strategic partnership between BPHB and YKN, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on September 19 last year by Ruslan and Nordina, witnessed by Nancy herself in her capacity as Chairperson of the YKN Board of Trustees.

Through this collaboration, BPHB is committed to contributing meaningfully to the local community by providing much-needed shelter and care facilities via the Bintulu Port Anjung Kasih YKN initiative.

By aligning its business goals with social responsibility efforts, BPHB believes the initiative can enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of the community.

The project is expected to be completed soon and will begin full operations to meet local needs.

Anjung Kasih YKN Hospital Bintulu is the first of its kind in the country to be fully funded by a corporate entity, BPHB, and is the fourth Anjung Kasih YKN facility in Sarawak, after Sarawak General Hospital, Sibu Hospital, and Miri Hospital.

The facility will offer 67 beds for patients, along with various other amenities, including accommodation rooms, a prayer room, a lounge, bathrooms, toilets, and a dining area, all fully sponsored by BPHB.
