PUTRAJAYA: Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming today called on Malaysians to embrace diversity and strengthen unity as the solid foundation for building a stronger and resilient nation.

Speaking at a closed-door dialogue session with church leaders nationwide, Nga emphasised that Malaysia’s strength lies in its multicultural fabric, urging all citizens to uphold mutual respect, understanding, and inclusivity.

“Malaysia’s diversity is not a weakness, but one of our greatest strengths. We must live up to the true spirit of “Malaysian Dream” and nation-building by fostering unity, respecting differences, and working together for the common good as we strive to make Malaysia great again,” he said.

He noted that the MADANI Government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership is on the right track in restoring investors’ confidence and rebuilding the nation’s economic and social foundations.

Nga, who is also the President of UN-Habitat Assembly, said that targeted subsidy programmes such as the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), and the BUDI MADANI fuel subsidy initiative are helping to ease the cost of living and providing meaningful relief to the rakyat.

The government is expected to pay RM60 billion in petrol subsidy this year due to the war that erupted in West Asia.

Nga also highlighted encouraging economic indicators, including rising foreign direct investment (FDI), a strengthening ringgit, and improving macroeconomic stability, which he said reflect renewed investor confidence in Malaysia with the country now ranked top 23 most competitive country in the world, rising from 37 previously.

“While progress is being made, rebuilding a nation takes time and requires a good heart. We ask Malaysians for their continued patience, support, and trust as we work diligently to deliver meaningful reforms and sustainable growth,” he added.

The closed-door dialogue session, attended by hundreds of church leaders from all denominations,  served as a platform to foster constructive engagement, strengthen interfaith understanding, and reinforce the government’s commitment to inclusivity and unity under the MADANI framework. – BERNAMA
