KUCHING: The Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development is ready to provide assistance to the family of Wan Khairul Nizam Wan Abdul Kadir who was killed in an accident along Jalan Stutong.

Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said this initiative is important to ease the family’s burden, as the late Wan Khairul Nizam’s children are still young and in school.

She added that the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Sarawak (JKMS) and Yayasan Kebajikan Negara have also reached out to the family and held discussions with the widow, Jamilah Hassan, to identify their needs.

Nancy when speaking to the reporters.

“This is because we have an emergency assistance fund, which requires discussion with the family of the deceased.

“For this reason, I personally visited the family to offer support, as the deceased left behind children who are still in school and need care,” she said.

She said this to reporters after a welfare visit and delivering condolence assistance to the family of the 41-year-old accident victim at Kampung Tabuan Dani today (Jan 19).

Additionally, she informed Jamilah about counseling services being available if needed.

“I have informed her about the counseling services we provide. If needed or if she feels overwhelmed, she can reach out to us.

“We are always ready to offer counseling advice as it is something very much needed,” she said.

Earlier, Nancy also delivered assistance from the National Welfare Foundation and the Department of Social Welfare (JKMS).

Wan Khairul, who worked as a Cargo Operations Officer at MASkargo Sdn Bhd, was among those killed in the accident on Jan 14 while riding his motorcycle to work.

He was from Kampung Gersik and is survived by Jamilah, 42, along with their five children, aged between 5 and 18 years.
