KUCHING: Serian District Council (SDC) chairman Datuk Peter Minos has been sworn in for another term leading the council on Saturday (April 11).
Minos, who previously served as chairman of the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council, described the period as challenging but rewarding.
“I am really grateful that the government put me there. I have very fond memories of Samarahan and its people.
“In March 2025, I was appointed to Serian. The district is also growing and progressing, with much room for improvement, although the pace of development is not as fast as in Samarahan,” he said in a statement today.
Minos highlighted Serian’s strong potential in eco-tourism and agriculture, noting its natural attractions including mountains, waterfalls, rivers, hot springs and lakes.
He added that SDC is currently focusing on 10 eco-tourism projects, some of which are expected to be implemented this year.
“Once these projects are implemented, Serian will be a great rural tourism destination with much to see and experience,” he added.
He also described the people of Serian as warm and friendly, adding that he enjoys serving the largely Bidayuh community.
“The people of Serian are warm and friendly, and I like it here. One more year with them and I am happy,” he said.
