MIRI: Miri’s Boxing Development (B.A.D) squad delivered an encouraging performance after returning with 13 medals from the second edition of the Sibu Talent, Junior and Youth Boxing Carnival recently.

The team collected five gold, six silver and two bronze medals during the two-day carnival held at Dewan Kelab Melayu Kampung Nyabor, Sibu, from April 24 to 25.

Head coach, Melvin Wee, described the overall performance as encouraging.

“The achievement shown by the boxers involved in the carnival was very encouraging. Bringing home medals this time is a positive sign as they continue preparing for upcoming competitions,” he said when contacted recently.

Gold medals were contributed by Alexzander Anji, Alexseanlam Juti, Alexzander Madang, Mohammad Zaid Abdullah and Awang Mohammad Ilham in their respective categories.

Silver medals came from Mavin Damien Lawrance, Randy Ngumbang, Nelvin Julian, Aaron Alexison and James Ngalai.

Meanwhile, Morrison Janggi and Mohammad Naieem Daston secured bronze medals for the squad.

The team’s outing was further boosted when Alexzander received the Under-19 Promising Boxer Award.
