MIRI: The Miri Civic Centre here has been officially designated as a temporary relief centre to provide shelter for victims of a landslide that struck Kampung Lereng Bukit.
The landslide, which occurred on today (Jan 27), has displaced residents in the affected area.
In a statement released by the Miri District Office, Acting District Officer Geraldine Janely Doris Peter Kulai confirmed the activation of the centre.
“The Temporary Evacuation Centre has been activated to accommodate victims of the landslide,” she said in a statement.
Geraldine also expressed the Miri District Office’s gratitude to all parties involved for their cooperation and assistance in managing the situation.
“At the same time, we would like to urge the public to stay vigilant during this current wet spell,” she added.
