MIRI: A total of 91 staff and students of Miri Community College participated in a fire safety programme here recently.

The initiative, which had been paused during the pandemic years, highlighted the importance of preparedness in case of emergencies and fire incidents.

College Director, Harmen Musa, emphasised the necessity of such training for students and staff alike.

“It is imperative to equip our community with the skills to save themselves during emergencies, particularly fires,” he stated, highlighting the dire need for practical knowledge in these stressful situations.

Harmen praised Lutong Fire and Rescue Station chief, Henry Jugah, who facilitated the training.

The programme marked a return to safety training that had been put on hold since the outbreak of COVID-19.

Among those who attended was the Management Deputy Director at the college, Noor Aini Bojeng, who highlighted the spirit of teamwork and preparedness showcased during the exercise.
