MIRI: Police here arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of stealing items from a shipping container, marking a decisive move against a spate of petty crimes in the district.

The suspect was arrested on Nov 27, in an operation led by Miri police station officer-in-charge ASP Goldy Jangan. A team from the Crime Prevention Division supported the operation, moving in at approximately 4.22 pm along Jalan Harmoni to detain the man.

Officers recovered several items believed to have been stolen during the incident. Investigators are verifying the seized goods as part of the ongoing probe.

The suspect is being held at the Central Police Station lock-up as the case proceeds under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which deals with theft in buildings and enclosed spaces.

Police have appealed to the public to act responsibly and support enforcement efforts by channelling information directly to the authorities, stressing community cooperation remains vital in curbing crime across Miri.
