MIRI: Firefighters carried out flood surveillance across several high-risk areas today as persistent rain continued to soak the district.
Teams from Miri Sentral Fire Station monitored Kampung Luak, Taman Tunku, Riam Jaya and Kampung Lereng Bukit following reports of rising water levels.
Jalan Lotus in Kampung Luak recorded the most critical situation, with floodwater reaching an estimated four feet and seeping into homes.
In Riam Jaya 1, water pooled along the low-lying stretch but did not pose a direct threat to residential areas.
Floodwaters in Jalan Daro, Taman Tunku receded after a brief spell of flash flooding, although authorities still classify the area as vulnerable.
Conditions in Kampung Lereng Bukit remained stable, but the locality continues to be flagged for potential landslides and flash floods due to the prolonged rainfall.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre said monitoring will continue as adverse weather persists.
