MIRI: Preparations for the ‘Sarawakku Sayang 2026’ programme here have entered an intensive phase, with senior officials stepping up coordination efforts to ensure the large-scale event runs smoothly.

Deputy State Secretary (Administration), Datuk Felicia Tan Ya Hua, led a site inspection at Miri Stadium today (April 18), assessing logistical, technical and operational readiness ahead of the programme.

The visit focused on key areas including venue layout, crowd movement and infrastructure, as the state government moves to firm up planning for what is expected to be a major public event in the northern region.

Following the inspection, Tan chaired a multi-agency coordination meeting at the Resident’s Office, bringing together relevant departments to review progress and clarify responsibilities.

Officials discussed several operational matters, including a proposal to set up a media centre within the stadium compound near the VIP entrance to improve access and coverage during the event.

The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), working with the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), has been tasked with coordinating communication materials such as infographics and stage backdrops to ensure consistency in messaging.

The meeting, which lasted nearly four hours, is part of a series of planning sessions, with a follow-up scheduled for April 20 to finalise operational details.

The stepped-up preparations reflect the government’s push to deliver a well-organised programme, with Miri expected to play a key role in hosting the event.
