MIRI: The spotlight will shine on Miri this week when it hosts the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) Award Ceremony and Forum.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate at the awards dinner on September 19, which is set to recognise ten remarkable young Malaysians for their contributions across business, science, governance, culture, humanitarian service and environmental leadership.

Themed ‘Inspire Change • Impact Generations’, the awards will highlight how youth-led innovation is shaping Malaysia’s future.

The celebrations will continue with the JCI Forum Malaysia (September 19-20), to be officiated by Minister for Transport, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.

The two-day programme will gather 30 JCI TOYM finalists, policymakers and industry leaders for keynote addresses, roundtable dialogues, and cultural showcases.

Discussions will focus on Malaysia’s growth trajectory, covering topics such as sustainable industrial development, carbon reduction, medical research, fintech ecosystems, women’s health, youth leadership and governance.

Roundtables will further explore themes of resilience, innovation and technological collaboration, positioning the forum as a platform for actionable ideas and cross-sectoral partnerships.

In addition to thought leadership, the event will spotlight creativity and performance.

Highlights will include a sharing session by JCI TOYM Brand Ambassador, Huang Fanshuo, musical performances by Zen Jun Yuan, Sheeqi Xu and Wong Hung Shu, and a comedy act by Malaysia’s ‘King of Comedy’, Harith Iskander.

“This event will not only celebrate achievement but also inspire young Malaysians to connect, collaborate and lead,” said Forum organising chair, Candy Yong.

JCI Miri is inviting local youth and members of the public to join the forum and awards dinner.
