MARUDI: Travelling time for road users from Miri to Marudi will be reduced to just 30 minutes upon the completion of the Miri–Marudi–Mulu–Long Lama (MMMLL) road project.
Deputy Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said the project would take four years to be completed, after which it would serve as a key catalyst for development in northern Sarawak, especially benefiting rural communities in the Miri and Baram divisions.
He said MMMLL is a “people’s project” that will have a far-reaching impact, not only for Marudi but for the entire Baram area.
“This road network will open more economic opportunities, increase property values, and improve the delivery of basic amenities such as electricity, water and healthcare services to remote villages,” he said.
Dr Penguang who is also Marudi assemblyman said this during a dialogue session with community leaders, village chiefs and government agencies here recently.
The session also provided a platform for residents to directly raise questions and concerns with the relevant agencies, strengthening two-way communication between the government and the people.
Organised by the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA), the programme was held at Dewan Suarah Marudi and attended by about 60 participants.
