MIRI: The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri branch and the Rotary Club of Miri Oil Town are hosting a blood donation and organ pledging drive.

The event is scheduled for Sunday (Apr 20) from 8.30 am to 1 pm at the Training Institute, Level 1, MRC Miri branch.

The initiative aims to inspire members of the public to donate blood and pledge their organs, pivotal actions that could save lives.

Additionally, the drive will feature a variety of community wellness activities designed to enhance public health awareness and engagement.

Participants will benefit from an array of complimentary health services alongside the donation drive.

Highlights include a ‘Clean Hands, Shared Health’ demonstration provided by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM), basic health screenings, and the opportunity to receive an influenza vaccination through ALPRO Clinic Miri at a nominal fee of RM45 per shot.

Mobility Matters Miri will also be offering postural assessments and consultations.

As an added incentive, the first 100 successful blood donors will be rewarded with a five-kilogram bag of rice and a goodies bag, underscoring the event’s emphasis on community appreciation and support.

“This initiative is not merely a donation drive; it epitomises the essence of community, compassion, and collective efforts towards improving health outcomes while saving lives,” said MRC Miri branch in a statement.

“We encourage everyone to partake in this meaningful cause and help us make a lasting impact,” is said.
