MIRI: Plans to build a new integrated administrative complex and government quarters for the Miri Division took a step forward yesterday as State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki inspected the proposed site at Tanjung Lobang.
The project, known as the Miri Division Integrated Administrative Complex (MDIAC), is expected to centralise government services under one roof while providing modern living quarters for civil servants.
It is seen as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and improve working and living conditions for public sector staff in the division.
Abu Bakar began his working visit in Miri with a stop at existing civil service quarters along Jalan Bulan Sabit in Krokop, where he assessed the condition of staff housing and facilities.
He later visited the Miri Land and Survey Office, where he was briefed on the proposed upgrades to public housing for government employees.
The highlight of the visit was the on-site briefing at Tanjung Lobang, where the MDIAC is slated to be built.
He also inspected nearby government quarters and the Government Rest House, noting the need for modern facilities that can better support the civil service’s operational demands.
Accompanying Abu Bakar were Miri Division Resident Galong Luang, Deputy Resident Bujang Rahman Seli, Miri District Officer Siti Rohanie Yusof, Miri Land and Survey superintendent Anthony Aboi, and Borneo Development Corporation (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nor-E-Fadzwie Salleh, along with senior officers from the Miri Resident’s Office and the Land and Survey Department.
The MDIAC proposal is still in the planning stage, with further assessments expected before construction begins.
