MIRI: A workshop and 21 used cars were razed by fire last night (Aug 17) in Krokop area here.
According to a statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a distress call on the incident came in at 9.38pm which prompted a team from the Miri fire station, assisted by firemen from Lutong and Lopeng, rushing to the scene.
“The conflagration also spread to a neighbouring facility that housed around 300 barrels of lubricant oil.
“Fortunately, the rapid intervention of the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the oil storage,” Bomba said.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damages are yet to be ascertained.
