MIRI: The winner of this year’s Miss Petite Continental Malaysia 2024 may be appointed as Miri City’s ambassador to promote it as a tourist destination, following a suggestion supported by Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang.
Speaking at the unveiling of the 10 finalists yesterday (Dec 17), Yii said he welcomed the proposal and believed the eventual champion could collaborate with the Miri City Council (MCC) to showcase the city’s attractions.
“I have no objection to the suggestion that the winner of this year’s Miss Petite Continental Malaysia be appointed as an ambassador for Miri City.
“I look forward to the ambassador collaborating with the MCC to promote Miri as a tourist destination. This is something we can arrange once the results are known,” Yii said.
He also congratulated the contestants for participating in the competition, emphasising the importance of intelligence, knowledge, and personality beyond beauty in pageantry.
The 10 finalists, aged between 18 and 29, hail from various parts of Sarawak. They will compete for the crown at the grand finale, scheduled for December 21, at the Pullman Hotel in Miri.
Brenda Yeo, President of Miss Petite Continental Malaysia 2024, was also present at the unveiling ceremony.
The competition offers lucrative prizes for the top performers. The winner will receive a sash, trophy, bouquet, and a cash prize of RM5,000, along with a one-year contract under Brenda’s Art Paradise Management. The first runner-up will take home RM3,000, while the second runner-up will receive RM2,000, both with sashes, trophies, and bouquets.
Contestants ranked third to fifth will each receive RM1,000, as well as their respective sashes, trophies, and bouquets.
The organisers expressed confidence in delivering a prestigious and well-organised event, supported by meticulous planning and hospitality.
The Miss Petite Continental Malaysia 2024 pageant aims to highlight talent, beauty, and grace while celebrating the cultural diversity of Sarawak.
