LIMBANG: The body of a local man who went missing in a suspected crocodile attack in Kampung Pandam, has been found today.
The victim, identified as Karim Osman, 58, was discovered at 2:28pm, about a kilometre from the search and rescue (SAR) control post.
His body was found in perfect condition.
Following the recovery, the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action, and the search operation was officially called off.
On Tuesday (July 8), Karim had been reported missing while fishing by the riverbank.
Only his fishing gear and personal belongings were found at the scene.
An operation was launched involving Limbang firefighters, marine police officers, Kampung Seberang Kedai auxiliary firefighters, Sarawak Coast Guard personnel, Civil Defence Force (APM) members, and local villagers.
During the early phase of the search, rescuers reported sighting a crocodile with what appeared to be a human body in its jaws.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether the victim was indeed attacked by a crocodile, but the case remains under investigation.
