Missing disabled man found safe in plantation

BINTANGOR: A 41-year-old disabled man, who was reported missing in Nanga Stras here, was found safe following a search and rescue (SAR) operation today.

The man, identified as Tang Teck Tuong, was located in an oil palm plantation about 1.38 kilometres from his home at Mile 1, Jalan KJD.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received a call at about 9.46 am on after the man failed to return home the night before.

Initial information indicated that Tang had gone to work at a nearby oil palm plot behind his house on Thursday evening (Feb 5) but did not return.

A SAR operations involving firefighters from the Bintangor station, police and People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA) was launched at about 10.30 am, with search efforts focused within a one-kilometre radius of the victim’s residence.

The victim was found by members of the public at about 2.38 pm and brought back to his residence.

He was reported to be in a safe condition with no visible injuries and was later handed over to family members to be taken to a nearby clinic for further examination.

The SAR operations was officially called off at 3.00 pm.
