SRI AMAN: The body of a local man who went missing after leaving his home at Rh Jinis, Tekalong, Melugu Scheme on Nov 20 was found floating in Sungai Dor today.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that the body, identified as 23-year-old Jackson Bar Runi, was discovered at 10.25 am, about 1.6km from his house.
The body was retrieved and transported to Jalan Utama Sri Aman-Kuching, where a police vehicle was on standby to take it to Sri Aman Hospital.
Following the discovery, the search and rescue (SAR) operation, which had been ongoing for eight days, was officially called off at 12.30 pm.
On Nov 20, Jackson, who was reported to suffer from seizures, had left home around 10 am without informing his family. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt.
His family filed a missing person’s report, which led to a joint SAR operation involving firefighters from the Sri Aman station, police, and the Civil Defence Force (APM).
