SERIAN: A 57-year-old man reported missing in Kampung Rayang here was found safe but weak after a two-day search operation involving multiple agencies and villagers.

Mark Rumbu, who has a hearing impairment, went missing on Tuesday afternoon (Dec 17).

According to reports by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), he left his home at 2.30pm wearing a light blue T-shirt and white pants, carrying a medium-sized basket and a sack, and was last seen heading towards the village’s durian orchards.

A police report was lodged by his neighbour, Raduan Litek, prompting the authorities to launch a search and rescue operation yesterday (Dec 19).

The operation, coordinated by the Serian District Operations Control Centre (PKOD), involved dividing search efforts into three sectors within a 5km radius.

The search intensified on the second day, with teams combing the area, including locations where some of Mark’s belongings were found.

At 3.30pm, today (Dec 20), the rescue team located him lying weak across a small stream.

He was immediately carried out using a stretcher and transported to the hospital by an ambulance for further medical evaluation.
