LIMBANG: Police are seeking assistance from the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Malaysian Embassy in London to locate a private college student who has not been in contact with her family since last Saturday.

Limbang Police Chief, Supt Parum Niot, said that 24-year-old Cathilyenn Santa Liong Siu Zhen was last seen in a CCTV footage at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) boarding a flight to London.

“Yes, we confirm that Cathilyenn is in London after she was spotted through CCTV in KLIA before flying to London.

“We are trying to get assistance from the Foreign Ministry and the Malaysian embassy in London to obtain information to locate Cathilyenn.

“However, the whereabouts of the student’s male friend, Muhamad Izzat Asnawai, 21, have not been confirmed after only a glimpse of Cathilyenn was recorded on CCTV at KLIA,” he said.

The case is being classified as missing person (leaving home) case without the family’s knowledge.

Parum also advised the public, especially the younger generation, to always be careful with job offers abroad that offer lucrative salaries.

“Always consult with the police and the Labour Department first about the legitimacy of employment agents,” he said.

Earlier, the families of both Cathilyenn and Izzat voiced concerns for their children’s safety, who were believed to have flown abroad since last Saturday.

They have appealed to various parties to help bring their children home safely.

Their disappearance went viral on social media after their families shared pleas for help to locate them.

The pair was last seen in the Horizon Suites area in Selangor on Saturday and had not been contactable since 10:00 pm that night.

Two police reports have been lodged regarding their disappearance.
