BELAGA: A 49-year-old worker who was reported missing for three days since Tuesday has been found dead after his vehicle is believed to have plunged into a ravine near Nibong Camp here.
Himang Lisang was discovered at around 9.30 am today by company personnel who were combing the area.
His body was found along with his white Toyota Land Cruiser about 5km before reaching Nibong Camp.
Earlier, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the local worker was last seen on Jul 15 at 4.30 pm when he left Nibong Camp and was heading to Anding to purchase food and supplies.
“The victim had passed through Abit Camp during his return trip but never made it back to the Nibong camp.
“When repeated attempts to contact him failed, company staff initiated a search along the route from Abit Camp to Nibong Camp. However, his whereabouts were still unknown then,” it said in a statement.
It added that a police report was subsequently lodged by the company manager at the district police headquarters, prompting the activation of a search and rescue (SAR) operation.
Personnel from the Belaga station received a distress call at 8am this morning and later had gathered information and operational instructions from the Belaga police station before proceeding to the search area.
Initial information estimated the journey from Abit Camp to Nibong Camp to take about four hours via logging road.
