Moderate earthquake hits Seram, Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Seram, Indonesia, at 7.50 am today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement, said that the quake occurred at a depth of 36 kilometres, about 82 km northeast of Ambon, Indonesia.

It poses no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
