KOTA SAMARAHAN: The 64th State-level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly concluded with Mohd Faizzil Affandi from Miri emerging as the champion qari, while Roziah Ayub from Mukah was named the champion qariah.
The winners were announced by State Grand Imam Datuk Mustapha Kamal during the closing ceremony officiated by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who was accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
In the qari category, Kuching’s Hadi Mohd Sharkawi secured the runner-up, while Nordin Putit secured third place.
Meanwhile, in the qariah category, Nurul Izzah Mukhali from Miri secured the runner-up position, while Eza Nurumaiza Japarudin from Limbang claimed third place.
The Hafazan (memorisation) competition featured three categories, recognising the dedication of participants in memorising the Quran.
In the 1 to 10 juzuk category, Azzizul Azmin Abdul Rajak from Kuching was named the male champion, while Mohamad Shahrul Hakimi Mohamed Razif secured the runner-up position.
Among the female participants, Khairunnadia Khalid claimed the championship title, followed by Nurshahirah Osman in second place and Siti Nurshahirah Salahuddin in third.
For the 1 to 20 juzuk category, Muhammad Najdat Arsyad Madzalan Abdul Rahman emerged as the male champion, with Muhammad Nasrat Anas Madzalan Abdul Rahman and Awang Aliff Rayyan Muzzamil Awang Safri securing the runner-up and third-place spots, respectively.
In the female category, Nur Husna Norzaidi emerged as the champion, with Asma’ Nur Muthmainnah Azman securing second place and Izyan Nur Fazreena Ismail finishing third.
The prestigious 1 to 30 juzuk category, known as the Grand Hafazan Prize, was won by Muhammad Arif Muadzam in the male category, with Muhd Azib Doraup and Mohamad Khairul Anwar Marican Mohd Idris Marican finishing as the runner-up and third-place winner, respectively.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohammad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, as well as the Sarawak Islamic Council president who is also the advisor of the 64th State-level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly Datuk Misnu Taha.
