KUCHING: A monsoon surge is expected to enter the region and may bring wetter weather conditions, including thunderstorms and prolonged heavy rain, to Sarawak and Sabah from Feb 19 to 23.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the forecast was based on analyses of current weather models.

A ‘Strong Winds and Rough Seas’ warning has been updated for waters in the South China Sea, effective until Feb 21.

It added that a ‘Continuous Rain Warning’ (Alert) for Sabah has been updated and will remain in effect until Feb 20.

The public is advised to refer to MetMalaysia’s official website at www.met.gov.my, its official social media platforms, and the myCuaca mobile application for the latest and verified information.
