KUCHING: More corporate organisations have been encouraged to support welfare initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of single mothers and their families in Sarawak.
Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said greater cooperation between the private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), government agencies and communities could bring meaningful change to those in need.
“When the private sector, NGOs, government agencies and the community work together, we are able to bring greater change to the lives of those who need support,” she said this when officiating at the ‘Let’s Move La Vida’ health workshop organised by Persatuan Ibu Tunggal Sarawak (PITSA) today (Jul 25).
Fatimah highlighted Mita Cake House’s Charity Set campaign as an example of corporate social responsibility in supporting the welfare of single mothers.
She said all 100 Charity Sets offered under the campaign were successfully sold, raising RM8,500, with 100 per cent of the proceeds donated to PITSA.
The campaign also incorporated an inclusive element by featuring exclusive artwork by young autistic artist Kelvin Li on its limited-edition tote bags.
Fatimah said the initiative not only raised funds to support welfare programmes for single mothers but also provided an avenue for the talents of persons with disabilities to be recognised and showcased.
She acknowledged Mita Cake House for its commitment to corporate social responsibility and expressed hope that more companies would come forward to support similar welfare initiatives.
“Such collaboration would help strengthen support for single mothers and their families while complementing ongoing efforts to improve community well-being in Sarawak,” she added.
