KUCHING: The flood situation in Sarawak has improved as the number of evacuees continues to decline, with several temporary relief centres (PPS) closing.
According to the latest update from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) at 4 pm today (Feb 4), the total number of active PPS has decreased to 34.
The authorities confirmed that only one new PPS was opened at Dewan Kampung Bawang, Matu, while multiple centres were closed in Serian and Bintulu districts.
The closed PPS include Dewan Slabi Entukuh, Serian; Dewan Masyarakat Serian; Dewan Ranchan, Serian; Stadium Tertutup, Serian; Dewan Pak Kung, Serian; Naim Paragon, Bintulu; Dewan Balai Raya Jepak, Bintulu; and Masjid Darul Iman Kampung Tudan Fasa 2A.
Despite the closures, authorities continue to monitor affected areas and provide necessary assistance to the remaining evacuees. The public is advised to remain vigilant and adhere to safety instructions issued by local authorities.
