BAU: The Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) will receive additional funding from the Sarawak Government once projects under its current RM1.5 billion allocation are completed.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state government remains committed to ensuring continuous development through agencies such as GKCDA.

“We have the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency and the budget is RM1.5 billion. When the projects are finished using this allocation, I will add more,” he said at the launch of the Bidayuh Cultural Centre (BCC) here today (June 22).

The Premier explained that the allocation would naturally increase as development projects are implemented and completed over time.

“After three years, the projects should have been implemented while development will have to continue. So, of course, the budget will be increased for other new projects,” he said, adding that the funding reflects the commitment of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to deliver development to the people.

While touching on politics, Abang Johari stressed that he was not campaigning as the state election was still some time away.

“I don’t want to campaign here, the election is still far away. We will indeed have an election later,” he said.

Instead, he highlighted Sarawak’s growing reputation and achievements, noting that the state has been receiving widespread praise, including on social media.

“Everyone is praising Sarawak. But let us not become carried away. We must remain humble,” he said.

He said Sarawak’s success is the result of careful planning and effective implementation of development policies aimed at improving the future of younger generations.

“What we do is plan and implement. What is important is that we want to provide a good future for our children,” he said.

Abang Johari added that maintaining political stability and social harmony is crucial for the state to continue introducing and implementing new ideas that will strengthen Sarawak’s foundation for long-term growth and prosperity.

“We are getting older, but we must strengthen our foundation. There must be stability and peace in implementing new ideas,” he said.
