KUCHING: Several people-centric and development projects in Kemena are set to be completed in 2026, said Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

Dr Rundi, who is also the Minister for Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development said the projects included the construction of mosques and churches, the Sebauh waterfront, the Sebauh Bridge and the development of the new Sebauh township.

“Additionally, rural road connectivity under the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) will be further strengthened to enhance public facilities and improve the well-being of the local community,” he said when contacted yesterday.

In the agriculture sector, Rundi said his ministry also planned to implement initiatives to boost paddy production starting next year, in line with efforts to achieve a 60 per cent Self-Sufficiency Level (SSL) by 2030.

He added that the agro-sector would continue to be modernised to ensure food security while increasing the income of farming and fishing communities.

Rundi also extended his New Year 2026 greetings to all Malaysians, particularly the people of Sarawak.

He stressed that unity must be strengthened and cooperation sustained to realise Sarawak’s 2030 vision of becoming an advanced, high-income state under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.

“We are proud to be Sarawakians… ‘Sarawak First’,” he said.
