KUCHING: Sarawak Agrofest 2025 is set to transform the Old Bintulu Airport into a lively showcase of agriculture, innovation and local talent from Aug 22 to 31.
The 10-day festival is expected to attract thousands of visitors, with organisers targeting RM6 million in sales — a 20 per cent increase from last year’s RM5 million.
Deputy Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Minister Datuk Martin Ben said the target was in line with the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which focuses on strengthening the agriculture sector.
“This year’s edition carries the theme ‘Industrialising Agro Sector Through Smart Technology’, highlighting the role of innovation and smart technology in driving productivity, sustainability and growth,” he said during a live talk show at WAIfm Bidayuh, RTM Kuching this morning.
Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said in May that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the launch on Aug 23.
He said the event would promote agriculture and agro-based industries while providing a platform for networking, business matching and partnerships to strengthen the agricultural supply and value chain.
Over 200 exhibitors will take part, including government agencies, agribusiness companies, food processors, cooperatives, farmers’ associations, agri-tech startups and financial institutions.
Visitors can also expect cultural shows, karaoke and ‘Battle of the Band’ contests, the Ratu Agrofest pageant, lucky draws and live performances by local artistes.
