KUCHING: A total of 3,019 people were sheltering at 40 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) across seven divisions in Sarawak as of 4:00 pm today.

Serian remained the worst affected division, with 26 active PPS housing 1,808 evacuees from 533 households, accounting for the largest share of those displaced.

This was followed by Samarahan, where six PPS were activated to accommodate 592 evacuees from 185 households, while Mukah recorded 198 evacuees at one centre.

In Miri, three PPS were opened to shelter 158 people, while Bintulu recorded 120 evacuees across two centres.

Sibu recorded 86 evacuees, while Kuching reported 57 evacuees at one PPS.

At the same time, three PPS were closed following improved conditions – Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Bijuray, Krokong and Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Belimbing, Krokong in Bau, as well as Masjid Darul Hafsah, Kampung Lintang Baru in Serian.
