KOTA SAMARAHAN: More than 60 stalls are operating at the Asajaya Ramadan Bazaar this year, providing a variety of dishes and refreshments for residents in the area and nearby villages.
Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said the number of stalls was sufficient to cater to the local population.
He said Ramadan bazaars were held annually in areas with a sizeable Muslim community to facilitate those breaking their fast, adding that Kuching alone had large number of such bazaars.
“In Asajaya, besides Pekan Asajaya and Tambirat, there are also certain stalls in the villages which can be considered Ramadan sales,” he said during his walkabout at the bazaar today.

Abdul Karim began his visit at the Asajaya Ramadan Bazaar before proceeding to the Pusat Penjaja Tambirat, where he greeted traders and members of the public and handed out dates to the traders.
Expressing satisfaction after touring the bazaar, he noted that bazaars in Kuching such as Stutong and Kubah Ria were larger and more crowded due to the bigger population.
“For Pekan Asajaya and the nearby villages, I think slightly over 60 stalls are sufficient,” he said.
The Asajaya assemblyman also expressed appreciation to the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) for organising the Ramadan bazaar in Asajaya and Tambirat.
