ENGKILILI: Two people were injured after a car they were travelling in, skidded off the road and plunged into a roadside drain near SK Engkilili No. 2 early this morning (June 14).
The accident, which happened at around 6.50 am, involved a Proton Saga driven by a 64-year-old man with a 42-year-old female passenger.
Fortunately, the man managed to free himself from the vehicle while the woman remained trapped inside the wreckage.
Firefighters from Sri Aman station were dispatched to the scene, about 26 kilometres away, following a distress call.
Upon arrival, the team provided initial treatment and fitted a cervical collar on the injured passenger before extricating her from the vehicle using a stretcher through the driver’s side door.
Both victims suffered injuries to their legs and other parts of their bodies.
They were handed over to paramedics and transported by ambulance to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 7.37 am.
