SARIKEI: Masjid Al-Muttaqin here is set to receive an allocation of RM700,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the development of a rest house and visitor facilities.

According to the Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Deputy Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh, the implementation of this project is a continuous effort to enhance infrastructure for the Muslim community in the area and provide benefits to all.

He said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had also approved the acquisition of land adjacent to Masjid Al-Muttaqin, including assets from the Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) kindergarten, to be managed by the Sarikei Islamic Welfare Trust Board (LAKISRI).

He said this at the Tadarus Al-Quran 2025 event held at the community hall of Masjid Al-Muttaqin on Saturday.

The Kuala Rajang assemblyman explained that this move is expected to strengthen the role and competitiveness of LAKISRI in generating asset development for the welfare of Muslims in Sarikei.

A total of 68 children and school students participated in the Tadarus programme throughout the month of Ramadan at the mosque, aimed at producing a generation well-versed in the Quran.

The ceremony also saw Len presenting appreciation awards to LAKISRI staff, Masjid Al-Muttaqin Committee members, Fardhu Kifayah volunteers and cemetery workers as a token of gratitude for their dedication and commitment.
