BINTULU: The Tabung Haji Board (TH) has donated a hearse under its TH Mobility Programme to Masjid Darussalam Kampung Baru Darat here.
TH Director for Sabah and Sarawak, Datuk Nurlaila Said, oddiciated at the symbolic handover to Masjid Darussalam chairman, Ismail Razali, witnessed by the assemblyman for Jepak, Iskandar Turkee.
According to Nurlaila, the TH Mobility Programme is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at assisting local communities by redistributing zakat contributions to those in need.
“Tabung Haji remains committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities towards the community. To date, more than 380,000 TH depositors in Sarawak have contributed directly to community development through zakat payments,” she said.

Launched in 2016, this programme focuses on providing multi-purpose vehicles for mosques, particularly in rural areas that require better funeral management facilities.
“Since its introduction, Tabung Haji has donated 136 dual-function vehicles, benefiting over 300,000 members of mosque congregations, surau, care centres and charitable organisations nationwide.
“Since 2021, this programme has been expanded to Sarawak and Sabah, with seven vans donated in Sarawak, including in Kuching, Mukah, Miri, Samarahan, Sibu, and now Bintulu,” she added.
She expressed hope that this van would be utilised by the local community to facilitate funeral management and other community activities when needed.
She stated that in 2024, TH allocated RM3 million in zakat funds under the TH Mobility Programme to provide 17 dual-function vans for mosques, surau and welfare centres across the country.
“In 2023, Tabung Haji also contributed RM1.9 million in zakat to the Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak to assist underprivileged groups in the state,” she added.
Also present at the event were TH Sarawak Director, Amat Kassim Pait, TH Bintulu Manager, Rubiah Sdi and community leader, Penghulu Drahman Sisik.
