SIBU: A total of 41 mosques and surau in the Sibu division have received RM205,000 in donations to support activities throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said each mosque and surau received RM5,000.
“This is a contribution from LAKIS (Sibu Islamic Welfare Trust Board) and the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Nangka Service Centre.
“This is an annual donation we provide to mosques and suraus to support their activities throughout the month of Ramadan,” he said at the handover ceremony held at Masjid An-Nur Sibu here yesterday (Feb 28).
Meanwhile, the Nangka assemblyman also invited representatives from all 41 mosques and surau to participate in a Quran recitation completion programme scheduled for Mar 23 at the LAKIS Hall here.
Additionally, he invited the public to attend the Sungkei Perdana Programme, which will take place on Mar 15 at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase I here.
