TAIWAN: The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), through its Tourism Administration and the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration, is once again highlighting Taiwan’s commitment to sustainable cultural tourism with the return of the Taiwan East Coast Land Arts Festival 2025.
Carrying the theme ‘Becoming an Estuary’, this year’s festival celebrates the deep connection between nature, art, and community along Taiwan’s stunning eastern shoreline.
Beginning on the summer solstice on June 21, the festival offers a rich array of programmes including artist residencies, curated exhibitions and community engagement activities.
At its heart is the Moonlight Sea Concert, an internationally recognised event that blends music, landscape and cultural storytelling.
Previously listed among the Top 100 Travel Destinations Worldwide by an international travel platform, the Moonlight Sea Concert invites audiences to enjoy captivating performances under the stars across four weekends in June, July, August and September.
Each evening offers a unique and immersive experience set against the natural backdrop of the sea and mountains.
To enhance accessibility and promote environmentally friendly travel, MOTC has collaborated with local transport and accommodation providers to offer shuttle services from key locations such as Taitung Transfer Station, Yuli Railway Station in Hualien and the Zhiben Hot Spring Area.
Meanwhile, accommodation partners are providing packages that encourage longer stays and deeper engagement with the East Coast region.
Director-General Chou Yung-Hui of the Tourism Administration emphasised that the festival not only promotes cultural creativity but also reflects Taiwan’s leadership in sustainable tourism.
He noted that such initiatives help preserve local heritage while supporting the creative economy and encouraging ecological responsibility.
Visitors are encouraged to follow the East Coast National Scenic Area’s official website and social media pages for updates, travel advice, and festival highlights as Taiwan invites the world to experience the natural and artistic beauty of its east coast.
