KUCHING: Several key motions shaping Sarawak’s future will be presented at the 16th Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Triennial General Meeting (TGM) this weekend, focusing on political, economic, and educational improvements to tackle upcoming challenges.

The party’s deputy president, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that during the TGM, also known as the PBB Convention, the party is providing avenue for members to express their views on what they think is beneficial for the present and the future, as well as matters that need enhancement.

“This includes new policies that, in their view, should be considered by the leadership so that we can continue to face upcoming challenges,” he said during a special interview at the Office of the Deputy Premier at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Wednesday.

He added that 14 representatives from the Women’s and Youth Wings would also be given the opportunity to discuss issues related to their roles and importance in the party, as well as to evaluate existing policies.

According to him, the process of gathering issues and proposals began at the branch level, where members were given the opportunity to voice the challenges they faced, including the effectiveness of aid programmes.

“The issues raised at the branch level are then brought to the division level before being discussed in the TGM.

“Many policies introduced by the Premier have actually emerged from the debates in this assembly. Although not all members have the opportunity to speak, their representatives will bring forth the voices and views from the grassroots,” he said.

Commenting on PBB candidates contesting this weekend, Uggah said that the selection is conducted democratically.

“In PBB, we contest as one family, like siblings. So, let our representatives make the decision,” he explained.
The 16th PBB TGM will be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from February 14 to 16 to elect the leadership lineup for the 2025-2028 term.
