SIBU: A total of 45 students from various secondary schools here attended a Resident Councillorship System (RCS) Motivation Camp held at Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) public library on Saturday to empower the next generation.
The programme organised by SMC under RCS Ward G, with a theme ‘Inclusive and Level Up’ is aimed at motivating young generation to build self-confidence, developing teamwork, understanding other cultures and communities, as well as learning to be kind and empathetic.
SMC’s Deputy Chairman, Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley, highlighted that the event under RCS Ward G, was deeply relevant to all participants, regardless of age, background, or profession.
“Living in a world that is changing rapidly, and in times of change, two things – inclusivity and leveling up – will take us all on a self-discovery journey, to grow, improve, and uplift ourselves and others.
“Being inclusive means valuing every individual, respecting different perspectives, abilities and backgrounds, and creating spaces where no one feels left out or overlooked and where everyone’s voice matters,” he said.
“In schools, that might mean embracing classmates who are different from us. In the workplace, it means ensuring opportunities are accessible to all, regardless of race, gender, or disability.
“In the community, it means ensuring every citizen feels seen, heard and valued. Inclusivity is not just about kindness; it is a powerful tool for building unity, innovation and stronger communities.
“To level up means to grow beyond our current abilities, to challenge ourselves to be better, stronger, and more capable, instead of settling, we push forward – learning new skills, embracing new knowledge, and building resilience,” he explained.
“When we lift others, we rise together. Be inclusive, level up, and lead the way forward. Let’s build a future where no one is left behind, and everyone levels up together,” Izkandar added.
Meanwhile, RCS Ward G’s Chairman, Cr Kiing Teck Ho, said the theme of the camp could not be more fitting as it reminds that growth is not just about achieving personal success but about rising together and embracing everyone in the process.
He stressed that knowledge is power – but attitude and values are just as important.
Kiing assured that his committee will continue to support youth programme.
