KUCHING: A motorcycle was completely destroyed after catching fire at Jalan Diplomatik, Petra Jaya last night (Sept 12).
A distress call on the incident was received at 9.44 pm, prompting the dispatch of a team from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station to the scene, located about 6km away.
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said the fire engine arrived at 9.51 pm, but by then, members of the public had already managed to extinguish the blaze using water from a nearby drain.
The owner of the motorcycle escaped unhurt in the incident.
Firefighters later conducted monitoring and ensured the situation was safe before ending the operation at 10.05 pm.
