KUCHING: A motorcycle parts shop at Lorong Greenville 142, Jalan Batu Kitang here, was damaged in an early morning fire today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Batu Lintang station were dispatched to the scene, about 10km away, following an emergency call at 7.16 am.
Firefighters found several components and equipment inside the premises had caught fire, resulting in about 30 per cent of the shop being damaged.
The team promptly carried out the extinguishing deed using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant.
The flames were brought under control at 7.50 am, followed by overhaul works to ensure that there is no risk of reignition.
The team ended the operation at 8 am. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
