The incident occurred at approximately 11:49 pm when the victim, riding a Honda motorcycle from the direction of Pasar Lama towards Jalan Sultan Iskandar, allegedly ignored the red light.

He collided with a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle that was passing through the intersection on a green light from ParkCity heading towards Kampung Baru.

Bintulu Police Chief, Superintendent Nixon Joshua Ali, said both riders, who are locals in their 30s, were rushed to Bintulu Hospital for emergency treatment.

“However, the Honda motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at around 1:00 am while receiving treatment in the red zone of the hospital,” he.

Preliminary investigation based on dashcam footage from a public vehicle at the scene confirmed that the Honda motorcycle rider had run the red light.
